A Partnered Approach to Construction Projects

The HERWIT Engineering team has a partnered approach to working with owners and contractors of construction projects. This relationship helps to maintain project quality while expediting construction issues and decisions to maintain project schedule and remain on deadline. We have worked on projects ranging from the $1 million City of Brentwood Bolster pump station to the $48 million City of Fresno 68 mgd expansion project.

Case Study: Lone Tree Way Expansion & Fairview Avenue Flood Control Improvements (Antioch, California and Brentwood, California)

HERWIT Engineering was the third-party construction manager for this $7 million project. This included widening Lone Tree Lane from two lanes into six lanes and constructing a regional flood control basin with backbone infrastructure.

For this project, HERWIT managed construction change orders between all parties to the project including: The City of Antioch and the City of Brentwood, the private developers, and the contractor. Key milestones were met even when faced with unforeseen problems such as 60 days of rain during the project period, repeated design engineering changes, local wildlife issues, utility right-of-way conflicts, and over $1 million in change orders. We were able to deliver a timely result despite these challenges.

Case Study: Lone Tree Retail Center (Brentwood, California)

HERWIT Engineering was the third-party construction management for the $5 million Lone Tree Retail Center in the City of Brentwood. We were able to successfully deliver the project on-time for the center opening date, despite significant weather-related delays and simultaneous structure and civil site construction.
